Teri Pearlstein, MD

Teri Pearlstein, M.D. is Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior and Associate Professor of Medicine at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Since August 1, 2011, she is the Director of Women’s Behavioral Medicine at the Women’s Medicine Collaborative, part of Lifespan hospitals, in Providence, Rhode Island. She was the Director of the Center for Women’s Behavioral Health at Women and Infants Hospital 1996-2011 and the Director of the Women’s Treatment Program at Butler Hospital 1990-2000, both in Providence, Rhode Island. Dr. Pearlstein received her B.A. in Mathematics from Wellesley College in Massachusetts and her M.D. from New York University School of Medicine in New York City. She completed both her internship in internal medicine and residency in psychiatry at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

Dr. Pearlstein is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and is a member of several professional societies including the International Association for Women’s Mental Health, American Psychiatric Association, North American Society for Psychosocial Obstetrics and Gynecology, Rhode Island Medical Women’s Association, and the Rhode Island Psychiatric Society. She is the current President of the North American Society for Psychosocial Obstetrics and Gynecology and she has been the Treasurer of the International Association for Women’s Mental Health since 2002. She has served as principal investigator on numerous research studies, has been a member of several journal editorial boards, and is a frequent presenter at national and international meetings. She has published over 60 peer-reviewed manuscripts in the areas of premenstrual dysphoric disorder, perinatal mood disorders, perimenopause, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other mental health disorders in women.
